Getting Started with Narrato

Welcome to Narrato—your intuitive, multi-agentic intelligent story developer designed to enhance and elevate your storytelling experience. Whether you're developing a screenplay, crafting a novel, or refining a compelling narrative, Narrato provides the tools to guide your creative journey.

Begin crafting your story effortlessly:

  1. Click into the inviting prompt, "I want to write a story about..."
  2. Enter your idea, premise, or narrative inspiration.
  3. Use the "Context" button to further refine and guide your storytelling direction.

You can always tap the Plus sign and upload your most recent draft. Ask Narrato to help, and watch as you receive beyond-intelligent insight into your story. Identify what works, what's missing, and discover suggestions for making your story even better.

Understanding Context

Narrato supports your creativity by offering three distinct kinds of Context:

  • Story Context: Where you can explore broader story concepts, character ideas, and initial brainstorming.
  • Storyform Context: For structured narrative analysis and deeper thematic guidance based on Dramatica theory.
  • Conversation Context: Allows focused dialogues and interactions with Narrato’s intelligent agents to help develop and deepen specific elements of your narrative.

A Conversation context is set when you upload a file directly to a conversation from within Narrato’s input panel. The files you add will then be used as context for the rest of that conversation.

Narrato lets you know what Context you are currently in with the Context Switcher at the bottom of its input panel. Tap Context, and a list of possible Sources will pop-up. Toggle on-and-off the source you want to focus on (one for Story, one for Storyform), and then get to work developing your story.

When you have a context set, you'll see it indicated in the Narrato panel:

  • An open book icon indicates you're in a Story context.
  • An atom icon indicates you're in a Storyform context.

If both icons are visible, you're in both Story and Storyform contexts.

INFO

Due to current limitations with our third-party provider, you can only have a maximum of two contexts set simultaneously. For example, you can have a Story context set and then upload files to the Conversation to have both Story and Conversation contexts active. If you have both Story and Storyform contexts set and still wish to add additional files, be sure to add those files to either the Story or Storyform Documents—they'll then be used as context.

A Note about Memory

While memory across individual conversations is definitely part of our planned roadmap with Narrato, it isn't available immediately. Memory can be both beneficial and limiting. Too much memory can be reductive, continually referring back to the same points and limiting creativity.

The advantage of Narrato and the Dramatica approach is that the Storyform itself acts as a continuous context—a kind of "story memory." Even if one conversation can't directly reference another, the Storyform maintains consistency across your narrative. You can develop any aspect of your Storyform in isolation, and it will still naturally relate to every other part, thanks to the cohesive structure provided by the Storyform. Essentially, the Storyform keeps it all together.

Recent and Tasks Tabs

Narrato offers two primary navigation tabs to organize your workflow:

  • Tasks Tab (Coming Soon): Soon you'll be able to manage specific narrative goals and to-do long-range tasks (like writing out your complete Objective Story Throughline plot) directly within Narrato, enhancing your workflow and productivity.
