Key Features
Subtxt keeps your story's meaning (the subtext) distinct from the way you choose to present it (the storytelling). Throughout the app you will spot the universal subtext symbol—a vibrant gradient arc. Whenever you see that icon, you are working with the underlying Dramatica Storyform. Everything below that marker is about uncovering what the story is really about before you surface it into storytelling.
Once your subtext feels solid, Subtxt helps you Surface those structural decisions into Storytelling spaces. That is where you transform choices and justifications into loglines, outlines, and scene-level delivery for your audience.
Storyform Alignment
Storyform Alignment keeps all your ideas, outlines, and script pages in sync with the Dramatica Storyform, using Narrova as the narrative OS. As you clarify motivations, choose Domains, or adjust Signposts, Storyform Alignment propagates those decisions everywhere they appear. You will never wonder whether the conflict you resolved on one page still matches the beats elsewhere—the sync engine handles it automatically.
IMPORTANT
Storyform Alignment works in both directions. Revising storytelling artifacts triggers prompts when the updates require you to revisit your subtext. That gentle nudge protects the integrity of your Storyform while giving you freedom to experiment.
Develop
Develop is the workspace dedicated to shaping and refining your Storyform. Whenever you enter Develop you are operating beneath the gradient arc—squarely in the subtext. Here you can explore perspectives, evaluate Storypoints, and dial in the emotional logic that drives your narrative.
Develop organizes your work into focused spaces:
- Overviews give you a high-level look at where you stand.
- Documents collect the evidence and reasoning behind each Storypoint.
- Four Throughlines let you dive deep into the unique perspective each Throughline captures.
Summarize in Storytelling
After you build confidence in your subtext, the Storytelling view helps you Surface that meaning into deliverables for your audience. The Summarize tools translate the structural work you have already done into character arcs, plot summaries, and beats you can share with collaborators.
Because Storyform Alignment keeps everything connected, any summaries you produce continue to reflect the rock-solid Storyform you validated in Develop. That feedback loop lets you iterate quickly—strengthen the subtext when you find a gap, then Surface it again to refine the storytelling.
Narova Task Manager
The Narova Task Manager handles the long-range work of fleshing out your story so you can stay in the flow. Launch a task from anywhere in Subtxt and Narova can analyze a single logline and propose all four Throughlines, extrapolate complete Character Arcs, map your Plot, and enumerate every Player tied to the Storyform. Think of it as a collaborative partner working hand-in-hand with Subtxt to fill in the blanks while you focus on the big picture.
You will always find the Task Manager button in the top bar, right next to Search. Tap it to open the queue, see what is running, cancel tasks that are no longer needed, or jump into a finished result. Each task displays clear status indicators so you know whether Narova is preparing inputs, generating insights, or ready for your review.
While Narova is generating Storypoints, Storybeats, or Throughline Perspectives, the components tied to that work temporarily lock. A spinner replaces the usual controls so you can see exactly which areas are still processing. As soon as Narova completes the task, the spinner disappears, the component unlocks, and you can expand it to inspect the newly generated material.
Generate Four Throughlines task
Use this task when you want Narova to seed a complete set of Throughlines from a single logline or Storyform sketch. The task moves through clear stages:
- Intake – Narova parses your prompt and aligns it with the current Storyform so the generated work respects the Domains and Drivers you have already set.
- Draft – All four Perspectives (Overall Story, Main Character, Influence Character, Relationship Story) are generated together so the arguments stay balanced. Expect temporary locks on the Four Throughlines workspace while this runs.
- Refine – Narova tightens language, checks consistency across the set, and maps each Throughline to the Storypoints and Domains available today (with more Storypoints arriving soon).
- Review – The task completes and the Throughlines unlock. Open each panel to read the proposals, keep what works, and iterate further.
Cancel at any time from the Task Manager if the direction is not matching your intent—the locks clear immediately and your existing work remains intact.
Story Poster generation
Story Posters give you a single-page snapshot of the Storyform and current Storytelling plan. When you run this task, Narova assembles the logline, Storyform selections, Throughline summaries, and key Storypoints into a clean poster you can download or share. Expect a short preparation stage followed by a render stage; once finished, the poster is attached to the task so you can open or export it without hunting through different panels.
